Excursion to Cava Carosello and Ancient Noto
The hike dedicated to cava carosello and Ancient Noto. We are a few dozen kilometers from today’s Noto, in a place rich in history unfortunately with dramatic implications. In 1693 the most disastrous earthquake that has ever struck eastern Sicily occurred in these places, reducing dozens and dozens of cities to rubble, including Noto Antica.
We will visit the city or what remains of the ancient village, we will discover its centuries-old history before diving into one of the most beautiful quarries of the Iblei: Carosello quarry. Here we will see how man has exploited nature for his own benefit with the construction of tanneries, mills … until the end of the journey in one of the most beautiful natural pools on the Iblei. Here we can also cool off with a nice fresh bath before returning by car.
The excursion begins with a meeting at 9:00 a.m., at the meeting point agreed at the time of booking. After the customary presentations there will be a briefing about the route, an overview of the main points of interest, a check up on the clothing and equipment and registration with the association that allows insurance coverage.
